Well thought out summary of an exciting and fruitful gathering!
More ideas than time to share with a creative group.
One not mentioned above was "barter" for goods and service.
College towns like Ithaca, New York and Burlington,Vt. do a brisk amount of exchange through barter. Does not seem as popular or practiced here in our Stanford college area. I once got Mother's Day flowers from a local florist earned by my daughter's exchange with a florist in Michigan! That's an inter-state exchange across the miles. She has even received eyeglasses and piano lessons in barter. Wish we did more of that here.

Hey, Joan, thanks for the shout-out! How did you track down the article so quickly? It's great to hear from you.

Debbie and I volunteer as organizers for the Resilience Circle National Network, which is a pilot project of the Institute for Policy Studies Program on Inequality and the Common Good (http://inequality.org). On the Commons (http://onthecommons.org) has also provided resources to develop the curriculum. You can find our national organizer, Sarah Byrnes, at sarah@localcircles.org, or in her office in Jamaica Plain, MA! You can visit the Resilience Circle website at http://localcircles.org.

Cheers,

Great job, Thomas, as always! . Here in the greater Boston area we are constantly being told how much better off we are than "most" of the country! Yet, I know plenty of people who are either still looking for a job or. like myself, had to settle for being underemployed and receiving less compensation for the few hours I am working.! Was this support group designed by you and Debbie, or did you find the model elsewhere? At any rate, it does sound like a very valuable resource to people who are in very real pain! Keeep up the good work! Always, Joan Kilroe
